Audition & Portfolio Review Dates

The Artist Diploma program is not accepting applications for the current admissions cycle. 

PORTFOLIO REVIEW 

All Composition and Electronic Music portfolio interviews will be held in-person or via Zoom.

AUDITION DATES

All Instrumental and Voice Auditions will be held in person.

  • Saturday 1/25: Trumpet
  • Sunday 1/26: Composition, Piano, Tenor/Bass Trombone
  • Saturday 2/1: Bassoon, Composition, Percussion, Tuba, Voice
  • Sunday 2/2: Composition, Saxophone, Trumpet, Voice
  • Saturday 2/8: Cello, Clarinet, Double Bass, Euphonium, Horn, Viola
  • Sunday 2/9: Cello, Classical Guitar, Collaborative Piano, Harp, Oboe, Viola 
  • Saturday 2/15: Electronic Music (interview), Flute
  • Sunday 2/16: Electronic Music (interview), Flute
  • Friday 2/21: Bagpipe
  • Saturday 2/22: Violin, Voice
  • Sunday 2/23: Violin

NOTE: CMU School of Music staff will be present at the Regional audition, however, faculty from every instrument area will not be present.  All NYC regional auditions will be recorded. Voice applicants and all instrument areas, except flute and percussion, are invited to attend. 

Voice Auditions

  • A collaborative pianist will be provided by CMU for all audition locations (on-campus in Pittsburgh and NYC regional audition day).
  • Your assigned collaborative pianist will reach out to you directly to finalize details regarding your music selection.
  • There will be no rehearsals.

NOTE: Students have the option to bring their own collaborative pianist to the NYC regional audition, if they wish, however: this option is not available for the live auditions in Pittsburgh. Should you choose to have your own pianist for NYC auditions, simply notify the CMU faculty pianist once contacted.

Instrumental Auditions

All instrumental auditions will be unaccompanied.
